RODNEY & ANGEL GROWING UP!! & Roxy and Peter pics.

Oh... my babies are now big :(   i cannot believe how fast they grow up, rodney is looking lovely and Angel is always looking 'daz' white. They are so funny together and they cannot be appart, even if one cant the other they screech from the top of there lungs then when they see eachother they just run. There both just like little kids, always playing: chasing eachother, running down hills, flying off things (tractor, muckheap,gates...) chasing flys.  there just so funny...

A few pics from the other day to show how big they are now...

Angel having a drink.
Rodney, he now has the orange feathers on his head aswel.

A pic of Roxy.

A great stance from Peter.

Ryan relaxing!!

My cockerel Ryan loves to sunbathe, hmm strange. he actually lays on his side in the sun and stretches out his wing and his legs and closes his eyes. Its so funny to see him so relaxed, until my other cockerel Peter comes along then he gets up and goes back to patroling the run and amking sure all his girls are still there and that Peter hasn't stolen any ;)

SHE'S BACK!!

Ronnie came back yesterday morning!!.... but then disappeared again.

I was looking for ages, EVERYWHERE and couldn't find her then as i shut the coop in the evening i turned round and she was there in a little cove in the wall, and she's broody!! I'm so exited she is my first broody hen!!

I didn't like the thought of her being out on her own (out for 3 nights) so i thought i would bring her in tonight but this morning my two little 5week old chicks where jumping all over her so i thought i would move her, i was a bit nervous about doing it but it went well! I got Ronnie in a cat box then i managed to get the nest and the eggs in an old cat basket and put them in the store room, i was worried she wouldn't sit back on them so i left her for about an hour then checked and she was sitting back on them. pheww!!

She has 11eggs and i cannot wait until they hatch (if they do)!!

Its so exiting, they are due on the 23.

Ronnie on her 11eggs, now happy indoors!

Ronnie's 11 eggs!

My chickens

In England i had 3 hens
PEGGY-white star hybrid
Peggy was very friendly and always first to greet me, she never managed to be top hen it always switched between the other 2.

PAT-white star
Was top hen most of the time but switched between her and Dot, she was the only survivor when the fox got into the coop and lived on her own for about a year but when my family and i moved to Portugal she went to a big farm with lots of other chickens and also met the cockerel!

DOT-red comet
The friendliest and my favourite, also jumped on my lap and wanted a cuddle and followed me everywhere,

Now in Portugal i have..

RYAN-cream legbar
My very handsome boy, he is good with his girls but chases the chicks around if they come to close and chases after my other cockerel if he steals one of his hens.

ROXY-japanese bantam

SAL & GLENDA-ex battery
Both ex-battery hens who looked a state when they first come here, Glenda couldn't walk and had no feathers but now she is much better and happy with her life and Sal looked a little better but unfortunately she passed away(unknown reason) after a month living with the flock, she was a lovely hen and it was really sad when we lost her. RIP

Sal, RIP.

Poor Glenda, looking alot better now though!

BLACK & GINGER
I got them at about 3-4weeks old and it has been great to see them grow up. They are both really friendly.

Ginger & Black, 1month old.

BLACK, as baby.
Then BLACK as grown up.

GINGER, grown up:

RODNEY & ANGEL & ANGEL II

Got them both at a week old as little bundles of yellow fluff Rodney's a naked neck, both always falling asleep on my lap. Unfortunately Angel died 2 days after Sal from unknown reason, was very sad to loose her :'( I got Rodney another little friend  though so he wasn't lonely, the first day we brought Angel II home she got stuck under the ramp and I found Roxy pecking at her bum and blood everywhere so Angel II stayed in the house for a few days to recover then went back out with Rodney and they are now best friends.
